Are the Diet Pills Safe?

December 27th, 2009 by admin

Many people love the effectiveness and speed in which diet pills tend to work, but considering how many have been yanked from store shelves in recent years amidst a myriad of detrimental health claims, you may be wondering if any diet pill is safe to try.

What is important to realize when considering using any type of diet pill is that these supplements come with both benefits and side effects. It doesn’t matter whether it is a prescription aid, or one sold over the counter, all dieting pills are a type of medication and should be used with caution.

The FDA goes out of its way to ensure public safety when it comes to all sorts of medications. Unfortunately, some users may still experience detrimental side effects. The ingredients that make diet pills work are the same ingredients that can cause havoc within some people’s bodies. Any type of stimulant, whether it is am ephedrine or caffeine, can both stimulate your metabolism to work harder, but it can also rev up your heart rate and blood pressure to dangerous levels.

Not all diet pills contain stimulants, which may make them seem safer. But, these fat blockers, which are supposed to keep fat from adhering to your cells, can also cause problems to your gastrointestinal tract and liver, leaving you with some serious health problems to battle.

Of course, one pill that causes serious harm to one taker may do nothing to another. It really all depends on how your body reacts to it. So, how can you protect yourself from taking a dangerous diet pill?

Check with your doctor before taking any dieting pill to make sure it will not react with any medications you may be on and to monitor any side effects you may experience
Stay away from non FDA-approved diet remedies and herbs. While they may work to help you lose weight, they have not been approved for consumption in the U.S.
Do not order diet supplements via the internet. Oftentimes, these dieting aids are made with dangerous substances.
Never take more than the recommended amount.
Never use a diet pill for more than 90 days.
When taking prescribed diet aids, be sure to have your glucose, cholesterol, liver enzymes and blood pressure checked regularly.
Never crush or cut a diet pill. This can drastically change its concentration, which can be dangerous.
Stop taking any supplement which causes any negative side effects/

When used properly (and with caution), diet pills can be a great way to jumpstart any weight loss plan. Remember, though, there is no magic pill when it comes to losing weight. Safe weight loss takes time and patience. Be sure to incorporate healthier eating habits and exercise, along with any diet pill remedy, into your weight loss plan to ensure success. That’s the absolute best way to see the results you’re after!
